The book Digital Journalism has two authors: Janet Jones and
Lee Salter.
Janet Jones is currently the
Dean of Arts and Creative Industries at London South Bank University, was
previously a Professor of Media at Middlesex University, Associate Head of
Department at University of the West of England, and for 15 years was a BBC
television producer and senior broadcast journalist.
Lee Salter is currently Lecturer in Media and Communication
(Media and Film) and previously taught and researched at other institutions including
the University of the West of England, University of Verona and Royal Holloway. He has a number of other publications in such
scholarly journals as Journalism: Theory, Practice, Criticism, the International
Journal of Media and Cultural Politics, and Journal of War and Culture Studies.
Both Jones and Salter have very good credentials for
analyzing issues in journalism, including digital journalism, which indicates
that at book written by both of them should have good authority.
This book was published in 2012, which is fairly recent, so
it should contain primarily accurate information, but the topic of “Digital
Journalism” is sensitive to rapidly changing technology and business conditions, and any paper written
using this book as a source should include some scholarly material (such as
journal articles) published in 2013 and (even better) 2014.
